Barbara Mutagubya, Executive Director of Sanyu Babies Home, has called on Ugandans to secure court adoption orders to formally legalize their adoptions. She emphasized that many foster parents currently lack the legal documentation necessary to safeguard the rights of adopted children. This absence of formal adoption papers can lead to significant challenges for children, particularly around inheritance and protection if foster parents pass away.

Mutagubya highlighted the financial barriers many face in finalizing the process due to high legal fees. She proposed creating a one-stop center with government support to simplify the adoption process for Ugandans wanting to foster and adopt children.

Additionally, Mutagubya encouraged Ugandans to embrace adoption, offering children in foster institutions the opportunity to become part of a family.
