Police in Mbale City have arrested three suspects for allegedly attacking and assaulting individuals in Bumagenyi Ward, Industrial Division.
The suspects, identified as Wamimbi Bosco, Watuwa Bernard, and Wabulo Moses, are reportedly members of a group known as Imbalu Boys.
According to Kituuma Rusoke, the suspects, armed with pangas, sticks, and stones, attacked residents in Katwaka Cell, injuring Wesonga Swaib by striking him on the head with a panga.
They also robbed other victims of mobile phones and other belongings, with the full list of stolen items yet to be confirmed.
Security agencies have emphasized their commitment to addressing such incidents, noting that these violent acts undermine the peace and cultural significance of the Imbalu circumcision practice, which has traditionally been observed without such disruptions. Investigations are ongoing to ensure justice for the victims and accountability for the perpetrators.
