Fort Portal Police Apprehend Armed Robbery Suspect, Hunt for Others

Police in Fort Portal have apprehended one armed robbery suspect and are pursuing others who remain at large following an attack on Kezaabu Irene at her workplace, Buguma & K.I Motorcycles Spares Enterprise, located in Kisenyi-Mugunu Cell, Baazar Ward, Central Division of Fort Portal City, on November 14, 2024.
The attackers, estimated to be a group of eight and armed with a rifle, stormed the premises, threatened Irene and her colleagues with death, and stole approximately 50 million Ugandan shillings before fleeing the scene.
Police acted promptly after receiving an alert. In the aftermath, an irate mob apprehended one of the suspects, identified by the nickname Kanyankore, who was lynched on the spot.
Meanwhile, police intelligence tracked another key suspect, Businge Abdul alias Vinner, who was attempting to escape to Kampala by bus. Mubende Police intercepted the bus, arrested Businge Abdul, and recovered part of the stolen money during the operation.
According to police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, investigations are ongoing to capture the remaining suspects. Authorities are appealing to the public to provide any information that could aid in their apprehension, emphasizing the need for vigilance and cooperation to bring the culprits to justice.
